The best board for you for the better days is going to be either the SR-71 for a quick, drivey, top-to-bottom, raily board….or the Blackbird II which is an in-the-lip back foot type of board that likes to break the tail free in turns

Hey Todd,

I am looking to order a custom epoxy (possibly the Groveler IV.p - but i’m not sure) board was wondering if you had any suggestions.

I am 15 years old, about 5′6″ and around 120 lbs, but I want a board that will last even though I am still growing. I currently ride a 6′0″ stock CI flyer II, and sometimes find it a tad bit bulky.

I pretty much want a board for waist high to overhead surf since the flyer II goes really well for me under chest high (I guess because of the added float?)

I really want a board that is really fast and loose.

Send me any suggestions on a model and dimensions.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Robert,

The best board for you for the better days is going to be either the SR-71 for a quick, drivey, top-to-bottom, raily board….or the Blackbird II which is an in-the-lip back foot type of board that likes to break the tail free in turns. Either one would be good for you with dimensions at 5′10″ x 17 ¾” x 2 1/8″ on the smaller side if you think you are ready for something a little more tuned in to your height and weight…..or if you are comfortable on the 6′0″ range then you could go 6′0″ x 18″ x 2 1/8″.  I recommend rounded squashtails for either.

The Groveler IV.p goes really good too and is more versatile since it goes real good in small waves too, but if you want something specifically for the bigger and better days, then you can’t beat the SR-71 or Blackbird.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

I know you would be stoked on a magic Proctor.

Looking forward to your reply,

Aloha,

Todd

Thanks for your input.

I went to your website and look at the Blackbird and the SR 71. I am thinking that I want to go with the Groveler IV.p. Since I am from Jersey, it doesn’t get that good that often, I want a really reliable board for smaller and/or crappier surf. Plus I might be forced to sell the Merrick since I am a bit short on cash, so I think I am going to go with the all arounder.

How do the dimensions 5′11″ x 18 x 2 1/8 sound?

Thanks for your time.
